CREATORVC PRESENTS SLASHER TRASH, A COMPREHENSIVE EXPLORATION OF THE GRITTY DIY SPIRIT THAT MADE SLASHERS BOTH SHOCKING AND FUN
CREATORVC, the team behind the critically acclaimed In Search of Darkness documentary series and the Rondo Hatton Award-winning Aliens Expanded, are back with another exploration of the horror genre with Slasher Trash, available for pre-order from July 24th through August 14th exclusively at https://slashertrashdoc.com/
Dive into the Legendary Horror Subgenre w/Icons & Experts:
From no-budget backyard productions to enduring cult favorites, Slasher Trash is a deep dive into the dark waters of the slasher film genre of the late 1970s and 1980s, celebrating its over-the-top villains, fearless storytelling, and unending gore.
Die-hard fans and even mainstream audiences know Halloween, Friday the 13th and the like, but there’s a whole subculture of more obscure, low- (and no-) budget flicks, made with grab-a-camera enthusiasm and no concessions to good taste, dwelling beneath them. This documentary will illuminate the countless movies and madmen (and madwomen) that dwell beyond the household-name films and figures that dominate the pop-culture consciousness.
Featuring clips and commentary from the film’s creators, contemporary filmmakers and experts in the field, Slasher Trash will introduce viewers to cult favorites, hidden gems, and the niche and obscure films you’ve never heard of. With a 4+ hour runtime, Slasher Trash aims to give anyone who watches it a long list of psycho-shockers to seek out on video, streaming and at retro screenings.
CREATORVC has partnered with Gareth Morgan, the creator of Slasher Trash, a Facebook community with 200,000 followers devoted to the infamous slasher sub-genre. Backers of Slasher Trash will join a community of like-minded slasher fanatics and be given access to online events, such as Live Q&As with the filmmaking team, stars, and creatives of the movies, and genre experts. In addition, backers will be immortalised in this slasher compendium by having their names included in the credits, making it a truly memorable piece for any horror collection. This project is also packed with exclusive merch that horror collectors won’t want to miss.

From Writer/Director Michael Gingold:
“When I was growing up in the 1980s, slasher movies were everywhere, both in theaters and on the burgeoning VHS scene, offering gruesome terrors and cheap thrills of every kind. They continue to be enjoyed by countless fans today, and to influence many modern filmmakers. Slasher Trash is a celebration of these no-holds-barred horror films, one that aims to satisfy die-hard fans while drawing new devotees into this dark world of maniacal murderers and over-the-top mayhem. Get ready for some seriously deep cuts!”
From Executive Producer Gareth ‘Slasher Trash’ Morgan:
“I’m a lifelong devoted slasher fan who poured my obsession into building a Facebook page in 2017, where I could relentlessly riff on the good, the bad, and the trashy. Slasher Trash has since gone on to amass almost 200,000 followers, who share my love for everything stalk-and-slash related. I’m also super passionate about supporting independent filmmakers, having served as executive producer on a score of indie slasher films.”
