Starting in February, Troma Now will premiere 4K restorations and new transfers from the original materials of a number of Troma Classics on the 15th of every month. On February 15, the new 4K restoration of The Toxic Avenger will be available to stream exclusively on Troma Now.

The Toxic Avenger (1984) will premiere in 4K on Troma Now on February 15th. The rest of the series will follow throughout the year. “In Tromaville, Melvin works in a health club with his bucket and mop as a janitor. The sadistic bullies Bozo and Slug and their girlfriends Julie and Wanda, who love to hit-and-run people in empty streets, play a cruel prank on Melvin and he falls off the window in a barrel of toxic wastes in a truck parked in front of the health club. He turns into the strong monster Toxic Avenger and protects the town from criminals. He saves the blind Sara from a rape and soon they become sweethearts. At the same time that he is worshiped by the residents, the corrupt Mayor Peter Belgoody and his gang want to destroy him.”

Rabid Grannies (1988) will be coming to Troma Now in 4K this year, in its original 96 minute uncut format, scanned and restored from its 35mm interpositive. “When given a demonic present by their black sheep nephew two kindly old grannies are transformed into demons who proceed to gorily knock-off their greedy relatives.”

Mother’s Day (1980), Charles Kaufman’s cult classic horror film, will premiere in April. Newly scanned and restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative. “When you go into the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise. When you go into the woods today you’re not going to believe your eyes. But it ain’t no “teddy bear picnic”. Three women discover that two men are willing to do anything to impress Mother, and what impresses Mother is watching her sons commit acts of rape and murder. Now these women are prisoners, lowered to pawns in the game of checkers between two dimwits and their Maniac Mommy, and the question becomes, can any of them escape, alive?”

Bloodsucking Freaks (1976), Joel M. Reed’s equally celebrated and reviled film will premiere in 4K, scanned and restored from its 35mm internegative. “In New York’s Soho district, the master of ceremonies Sardu runs the Theater of the Macabre, which specializes in acts where people are tortured and dismembered. The spectators dismiss it as fakery but the gore is real. Behind the scenes, Sardu and his dwarf assistant Ralphus torment and mutilate women for their own pleasure, as well as sell girls they have abducted into slavery. When the critic Creasy Silo contemptuously dismisses the show, Sardu has him kidnapped and tortured. At the same time, Sardu also abducts the ballerina Natasha Di Natalie and determines to break her will in order to make her agree to perform in his new show.”

Other titles coming this year include The Last Horror Film in 4K, a newly restored transfer of Redneck Zombies, and more Troma classics like you’ve never seen them before!
